Distinct Society is a music project. It is based in Montreal. The instigator of this project is composer/arranger Robert Marchand.

Well versed in composing music for multiple media, the need to write "absolute" music as opposed to "program" music was manifesting itself quite urgently.Hence... this project.


And as the term "society" implies,other musicians are involved in this project .An album is presently in the works and should be out sometime in 2007. With singer/songwriter Sam Cerro, The Society is working on a series of tunes under the theme "Life after birth". These songs written sometime ago are being "refurbished" and given a new life.The primary results are quite exciting.
