Within Bernard's first year of formation (2000-2001) they were spotted and offered a deal by a small indie label on the back of a gig they did in March of that year. After much consideration Bernard decided that the deal was not for them, and they continued to build on their portfolio.

Bernard's music stems from a vast background of differing influences such as rock, punk, metal, blues and indie which shows through in their songs making their music something very special and unique. Nigel Crane, known for photographing the likes of The Lost Prophets, and SlipKnot has likened Bernard to Skunk Anansie and The Guano Apes.

2002 was spent gigging to local acclaim. In December of that year Bernard signed a deal with Spinach Records, a small independent label owned by Les Car
