First of all, we want to say
a massive thank your for anyone and everyone who voted for Les Valentine in the
chart at www.beatthemix.co.uk this week. As you already know if you’ve been
able to keep up to date, we won the weekly chart in our first week in the
competition putting us straight into the overall Top 10 on the site. Go to the
website to keep an eye on the voting as it goes on, and feel free to continue
texting ‘Mix 339’ to 83070 whenever the mood takes you....
Staying in the top 10 of the
chart until Saturday evening also won us a place playing on the Beat The Mix
stage at their Brighton event today, which was covered in the local press.
Katie, the lady who has been our contact at the website, also said that there
will be other promotions and gigs in the future, all of which could go some way
to raising Les Valentine’s profile if we continue to do well in the
competition.
We have already won some
great prizes after this week’s success, including being played on local radio
station Juice 107.2. Go to www.juicebrighton.com tomorrow night (Monday) at 9pm
and click on Listen Live to hear what they have to say about our song ‘Nervous’.
We will also be featured and interviewed on ITV’s Local Broadband internet
channel in October, so watch this space!
Other than voting too many
times, this week we have spent a lot of time burning our new CDs and folding
the new inserts to make sure we have enough for upcoming gigs. We’re giving
away a fair number of CDs at each show, and on Thursday we are playing as part
of the University of Sussex Fresher’s Week programme. We remember from our time
as students that, given the opportunity to take something free, it was physically
impossible to turn it down, so we’re hoping to offload quite a number at the
gig and grab some brand new fans while they’re fresh!
You will also be pleased to
know that we have been working on some new music, ready for unveiling at our
upcoming performances. We were planning to play one or two at our gig at the
Komedia on Saturday, but unfortunately the promoters Brighton Stripped have
been the victim of a booking error at the venue so our appearance there will
have to be postponed. We will let you know when it’s been rearranged.
