Born in 1984, Lee Jones began playing guitar aged eight; formally taking lessons and involved in various music projects throughout school and college. Influences include John Scofield, George Benson, Larry Carlton, Pat Metheny, Martin Taylor, Miles Davis and Wayne Shorter. Lee has performed at Cheltenham Jazz Festival Fringe and the Birmingham International Jazz Festival in recent years; appearing in Jazzwise magazine on several occasions. Lee has also performed as a sideman with Tom Hill and The Straitjackets and recently as a special guest with guitar virtuoso Martin Taylor MBE at the Pizza Express, London. Winner of Jazz Fm’s “Best New Instrumentalist” award, Lee Jones completed the BMus Jazz (Hons) course at Birmingham Conservatoire in 2007. His debut album “Swish” is now available from www.leejones-guitarist.com and has featured in The Observer and on UK, US/Canadian jazz radio. Lee is currently recording a new album for 2010 release with producer Simon Tittley and touring the UK.
