South-African born of Norwegian parentage and brought up in England, Nils has been a professional guitarist all his working life. He bought his first guitar aged ten and by his teens was working in folk clubs, after which he progressed to encompass jazz in mainstream, dixieland and gypsy styles. He recorded and toured with Bryan Ferry on his "As Time Goes By" album of 30s/40s standards, has worked with Ralph McTell, Gary Potter, Nigel Kennedy, Clare Teal and legendary bassist Peter Ind, with whom he has recorded two CDs; "Back To Back" and "You And The Night And The Music", both of which are available at

His latest album, "The Best Man", is a swinging romp through some well-known standards and lesser-known songs, featuring Nils on guitar, plus vocals on eight of the twelve tracks, with his own trio of fine musicians: Phil Parnell (piano), Peter Morgan (Double Bass) and Rod Brown (drums and percussion).
